Jesus Provided the Way

Hebrews 2:17 tells us, “Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest to provide reconciliation for the sins of the people.” By taking on human form, Jesus came and offered himself as a sacrifice for us through his death on the cross. Romans 3:24-25 tells us we are justified by his grace as a gift. His blood on the cross served as the atonement for our sins. John 14:6 teaches “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me. Acts 2:4 adds, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven by which we must be saved.” His sacrifice paid the price for our sins so we can be forgiven. Yet we rejoice also in his resurrection knowing that Jesus defeated death and revealed his power as Lord (Romans 10:9).

THERE IS A FREE GIFT OF SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

In order to have a relationship with God and an eternal home in Heaven, we must turn from our sin and our own efforts to save ourselves and instead place our full trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of our sin and eternal life.

Repentance is not about turning over a new leaf or reforming your lifestyle; it's about having a heart change about sin, seeing it as God sees it (turn back to God), then wanting to be freed from it.

Belief means more than just agreeing with some facts about Jesus. Rather, it is completely relying upon Jesus and Him alone to forgive your sins. Believing is just the first step to being saved. Mark 16:16 says that “everyone who believes and is baptized shall be saved.”

In John 3:5 Jesus tells Nicodemus “Except a man be born of the water and the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” On the day of Pentecost, Peter preaches the very first sermon. Acts 2:37-38 tells us what this baptism is. “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter AND the rest of the apostles, Men and Brethren what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and ye shall be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
